Reproductive Justice Together (RJ Together) is an Oakland-based billboard campaign led by ACCESS Women's Health Justice with 8 organizations participating.

What is RJ?

RJ stands for Reproductive Justice.  Reproductive Justice is a framework.

"Reproductive Justice exists when all people have the social, political, and economic power and resources to make healthy decisions about our gender, bodies, and sexuality for ourselves, our families and our communities"

--Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice (now Forward Together)

"Reproductive Justice is the human right to have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and healthy environments.  RJ includes the human right to bodily autonomy from any form of reproductive oppression."

About the Billboards

When’s the last time you looked up and saw public ad space that affirmed you and your community? Rising gentrification means long-time Oakland residents see themselves reflected less around the city.  This billboard campaign is intentional and affirmative to help our communities feel seen and valued.

These billboards serve as a reminder that Oakland’s residents and organizers of color are what made this town great. It’s important that activists, who work every day to affirm the rights of all Oakland residents, see themselves and their work reflected around the city.

The affirmations on these billboards are reflective of the experiences of everyday Oaklanders like young parents, trans women, and incarcerated people.  Access to abortion, the fight for Black lives, and the liberation of transgender people deserve space in our public squares.

Like these billboards, many of us live our lives at the intersections. Whether the billboards inspire conversation or put a smile on someone’s face, they're important and necessary.
